Signing of Memorandum of Understanding between KAU & the General Presidency of Meteorology and Environment Protection

HRH Prince Turki bin Nasser bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, General President of the Meteorology and Environmental Protection and the president of King Abdul Aziz University, Prof. Osama Bin Sadiq Tayeb signed a memorandum of joint cooperation between them yesterday , Tuesday (08/01/143), (07/13/2010) in his office at the presidency building. The signing was in order to enhance the joint cooperation between KAU represented by the Center of Excellence in Environmental studies and the General Presidency of Meteorology and Environment represented by the Excellence Center in the unity of Prince Turki of Science and Technology.

Prof Tayeb pointed out that the memo aimed to provide the scientific support and all the facilities and encourage conducting research projects and provide technical consultancy and implementation of training programs. It also aims to activate the process of cooperation on practical training for the students including summer training, support and guide some of the projects research selected for graduate students and undergraduates to contribute to solving the environmental issues of various suffered by the Saudi society as well as participating in the implementation of academic activities including workshops, training programs and short courses, scientific lectures and other activities which would enhance the objectives mentioned above.

It is noteworthy that Center of Excellence in Environmental Studies was established, with support and generous funding from the Ministry of Higher Education as center’s research interests focus in water treatment, domestic solid waste treatment and air pollutants control.
