His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz General President of Meteorology and Environmental Protection Presidency and Dr. Osama Bin Sadiq Tayeb President of King Abdulaziz University have signed a Memorandum of joint cooperation yesterday afternoon in his Highness office at the headquarters of the Presidency. Dr. Osama Tayeb stated that the memorandum aims to provide support, scientific assistance and all the required facilities to encourage conducting research projects, technical consulting, and implementation of training programs. It also aims to activate the cooperation process concerning practical training for university students including summer training; and supporting and guiding some of the selected research projects of graduate and undergraduate students, so that to contribute in solving the various environmental issues facing the Saudi society, in addition to participating in the implementation of the academic activities including workshops, training programs, short courses, scientific lectures, and other activities which enhance these objectives. It is worth mentioning that this would enhance joint cooperation between King Abdulaziz University represented by the Center of Excellence in Environmental Studies, and the Presidency of Meteorology and Environmental Protection represented by the Center of Excellence at Prince Turki Unit of Science and Technology. The Center of Excellence in Environmental Studies at the University was established with the support and funding from the Ministry of Higher Education, where its research interests are concentrated in the treatment of water pollution, domestic solid waste, and air pollutants control.
