Environmental issue: Challenges and Solutions

Center of Excellence in Environmental Studies has organized a Workshop held on Monday 24/04/1435 AH- 24/02/2014 in the Faculty of Applied Science. The workshop contained 3 lectures delivered by the Center International Advisory Board (IAC) members. The lectures focused on environmental issues in the sectors of air pollution, water pollution and solid wastes. Prof. Ibrahim Banat, the Vice President of the IAC, has delivered the first lectures about the Application of Microbial Biotechnology in Oil Cleaning, Hydrocarbon Recovery and Bioremediation Industries, followed by a lecture for Prof. Zakai Şen about the Climate change impacts on environment and water resources: A case study for Riyadh area. Then, Prof. Thomas Højlund Christensen delivered a lecture about life cycle assessment of waste management systems. All lectures addressed case studies which made the result of the workshop and the recommendation productive. After the lecture, discussions were opened and there were many involvements from various colleges and represented in water research center, Center of Excellence in Desalination Technology, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Meteorology, Environment and Arid Land Agriculture, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Engineering .
