Theobjectiveof thestudywasto compartehenutritionasltatusof squattear ndurbanchildren lessthantwoyearsinrelationto theirfeedingpractices. MethodologTy:hrougah cross-sectioanpapl roac1h0, 00healthcyhildre«n 2 yearsf)roma squatterandurbanareain Alexandria.Egywpetresubmittedtoweightandlengthmeasurements. Motherswereintervieweadboutdemographcihcaracteristicsso, cioeconomdaicta,andthecurrent feedingpracticesusingthe 24-hoursrecallmethod. Stepwisemultiplelogisticregressionanalysis wasperformewdithstuntingw, astinga, ndunderweighatsdependevnat riables. Results:Thereis a statisticallysignificant differencebetweensquatterandurbanchildrenin the prevalenceof wasting(4.2% and 1.4%respectively) and underweight (11.3%and 2.4% respectivelyw),hereastheprevalencoefstuntingwasinsignificanthlyighearmongsquattecrhildren comparetdo urbanchildren(21.7%and16%respectivelyN).utritionasltatuswasgenerallbyetter amongexclusiveblyreast.fedinfantsandthosebreast.fedfor23monthsB. esidesquatterresidence, poornutritionasltatuswasstronglyassociatewditholderchild'sagem, alesexandbeingachildof non.working mothers
