Abstract
:
In completely edentulous patients, the amount of bone reduction is generally greater in the mandible. At the canine area bilaterally, two implants support mandibular overdenture provide retention specially dependant on the type and design of retention devices. Fifteen totally edentulous male patients with age ranging from 50-65 years were selected to evaluate bone height and bone density changes under osseointegrated implants supporting mandibular complete overdenture supported with resilient ball and socket attachment, rigid telescopic crown attachment and dome-shaped supported without attachment. Radiographic evaluations were carried out using both panoramic Scanora multimodal system and Digora digital intra-oral computerized system, immediately after implant loading then at 2, 5, 12, and 18 months intervals. Significant increase in bone density and significant decrease in bone height measurements were observed in each group both mesially and distally with insignificant difference between the three studied groups.
